THIN Modular Lighting System Featured in Modern Loft

Dyer Studio Inc. designed the Marshall Wells Building in the Pearl, located in Northwestern Portland. The multi-level penthouse offers clean design elements, including Juniper’s own THIN Modular Lighting System to adorn the master bedroom and modern bathroom.

In the master bedroom, natural medium-tone woods line the floors as well as outline windows and are matched through the bedroom’s side tables. Grey and white neutrals are utilized through textiles to offer clean and airy aesthetics. To offset the light-to-medium tones in the space, Juniper’s THIN Suspension adorns the center of the room above the bed. Its two-connected sections offers the ability to create custom dimensions for this space.

The bedroom and bathroom are connected through a divider wall with a window in the top quarter, to let light stream in through the bedroom, but offer the level of privacy a bathroom requires. The master bathroom showcases a modernized square bathtub and shower combination with stainless steel hardware and dark and light grey tilework. Its shared wall with the master bedroom features a light hexagonal tile by Ann Sacks in varying textures for a natural and tranquil aesthetic, complemented by the adjacent wall covered with similar tile in a slender rectangular shape.

On opposing sides of the bathroom are dual vanities, complete with medium-toned wood cabinetry by R. Olson Design to bring warmth and more natural texture to the spa-like setting. The central mirrors’ pinstripe black frames are contrasted by Juniper’s THIN Surface Mount Vanity Lights in Black Oxide finish. Rotatable LED light arrays are adjustable to direct light either toward or away from the user, providing an ideal set up for contemporary vanity lighting.

Staying within the existing plumbing constraints, we rearranged and expanded the bathroom footprint to create a luxurious ensuite. The goal was to bring natural light from the north bedroom windows into the bathroom space, which was previously shut off. A bath for two was a bonus. The new vanity provides an ideal makeup station in addition to generous storage.
